Outreach and Engagement Intern
Antonela Peña is currently in her second semester of University of Miami, achieving her Master’s in Public Health. Before she embarked on her journey at The Children’s Movement in Florida, she did her Bachelor’s of Science in Long-Term Care Administration with a minor in Public Administration at the University of South Florida in Tampa.
During her time at the University of South Florida, she was the Secretary of The First Chapter of Project Sunshine. As the Secretary, she focused on recruiting student volunteers to visit the children at Shriner’s Hospital, creating fundraising events to promote arts and crafts activities for Shriner’s Hopsital and being a liaison between the students and the organization. Also, she was awarded the Student Ambassador title for 2016 within her college, volunteered as an activities assistant for John Knox Village and was a member for Operation Smile.
In 2017, she moved to Miami to work at Miami Jewish Health as an Activities Coordinator for Cypen Towers. In this position, she planned events and performed activities to increase and enrich her resident’s quality of life.
As the current Outreach and Community Spring 2020 Intern, she looks forward to contributing to The Children’s Movement 2020 Agenda ensuring all children have the advantage to start early learning as soon as possible for a bright future.
In her spare time, she enjoys long walks with her two Chihuahuas and spending time with her family.
