Carlos R. Salazar was born in Missoula, Montana where he remained briefly before relocating to Miami, Florida to be raised by his father. After high school, Carlos enlisted in the U.S. Air Force as an F-16 Crew Chief assigned to the 482 Fighter Wing at Homestead Air Reserve Base, Florida. After 6 years of service, the values of military life—especially a sense of service and the endless pursuit of excellence—left a strong impression.
Carlos is an alumnus of Florida International University (FIU) where he earned a master’s degree in marketing and a B.A. in Liberal Studies. He was the recipient of the Don. A Balfour Veteran Scholarship Award for merit and academic performance. His degree in liberal studies provides the knowledge needed to create meaningful engagement with individuals of diverse backgrounds. His marketing and business acumen drives him to effectively promote the importance of early childhood education to Florida’s business leaders.
Carlos previously managed academic development of early childhood, school psychology and adult education programs for the School of Education at FIU. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor of Marketing for the Department of Marketing & Logistics at FIU’s College of Business.
In his spare time, Carlos enjoys playing piano, writing in his blog, and outdoor activities in national parks around the U.S. He lives in Miami, FL with his wife and son.
