Outreach and Engagement Intern
Daniela Villasmil is a senior at Florida State University, where she will graduate in December 2019 with a degree in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences with a primary concentration in Public Policy and a secondary concentration in Social Entrepreneurship. She has also pursued a minor in Education with a Leadership Studies Certification.
Daniela currently holds a Child Development Associate and is DCF certified through her past involvement in her high school Early Childhood Education Program. This experience allowed her to learn about Early Childhood Education and gain an interest in advocating for Florida’s most vulnerable population.
At Florida State she served on the executive board for Dance Marathon at FSU as the Recruitment Chair, the largest student-run philanthropy in the Southeast Region. She raised funds for her local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital and the Florida State Pediatric Outreach Program. It was through there that Daniela found her passion for philanthropy and policy.
Daniela has also served on Florida State’s Oglesby Union Board as the Policy and By-laws Chair, as well as the Vice-Chair of the board. This experience allowed her to learn about and work in Higher Education policy. She developed relationships with campus partners, university officials, and other officials.
Born and raised in Miami, FL, Daniela spends her free time enjoying the beach, discovering new restaurants, and traveling to Disney World. She lives in Tallahassee, FL, but is in Miami for the summer.
