Outreach and Engagement Intern
Born in Hyderabad, Pakistan and raised in Coral Springs, Florida, Erum Kidwai graduated from the University of Miami with a B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Art. While at the University of Miami, she spearheaded a partnership between a school organization and PACE Center for Girls Miami. The project created a tutoring and mentorship program for the University of Miami’s GirlUp, a United Nations Foundation local chapter. Erum is interested in advocacy for children and survivors of abuse. She will be starting law school in August 2019 and hopes to translate her work experiences with students and nonprofits to her legal career.
Before joining the Movement, Erum served as an AmeriCorps Member through City Year Miami. She spent her year working in a public middle school in West Little River, where she worked with students to promote social-emotional development as well as effective learning skills. Erum also spends her time volunteering with No More Tears, a Miami-based nonprofit that aids and empowers survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking. Erum has worked one-on-one with survivors to break the cycle of abuse and help them attain autonomy over their lives.
When she is not working, Erum enjoys painting, photography, and watching movies with her cat.
