Kiana is a rising fourth year in the Honors Program at the University of Florida pursuing a B.A. in Political Science and Anthropology with a minor in Family, Youth, and Community Sciences and a certificate in public affairs. She is passionate about serving her community and advocating for women, children, and marginalized groups to create a more equitable society.
Through her coursework in family, youth, and community sciences, she gained a firm understanding in the significance of early development in children and how communities can be influential in the positive upbringing of youth. Further, she developed a love of working with children outside the classroom through volunteering as a tutor through Kids Count to help students in Alachua County reach Florida reading standards and by participating in service-learning trips centered on youth advocacy.
In the future, Kiana wants to continue to help families by practicing family law. In her free time, she likes to read, bake, and watch football.
