Masi Faroqui

Outreach and Engagement Director

Born and raised in Miami, Masi oversees a team of outreach coordinators who represent The Movement at the grassroots level across the state.

Before being promoted to outreach director, he worked as a public policy associate researching The Movement’s legislative agenda priorities.

He graduated with an Associate’s in Arts degree from Miami Dade College and a Bachelor’s degree in sociology/anthropology from Florida International University. He earned a Master’s degree in public policy at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth, with a focus on education.

Masi’s interest in education policy began as an elementary-school paraprofessional and substitute teacher in Miami-Dade County. While at UMassD, he served on a policy analysis research team seeking to help boost educational attainment in the city of Fall River, Mass.

He also interned in the Miami-Dade Public Schools’ Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, where he researched and wrote policy summaries on district priority issues. Masi enjoys analyzing complex social problems from outside of the box, such as the challenges that under-served minorities face in achieving an adequate and equitable level of education.

In his spare time, Masi likes exercising and volunteering for community groups focused on education.
