Director, Business Engagement

The Children’s Movement of Florida is the state’s leading voice on early childhood: championing policies and investments for high-quality early learning opportunities, health care access, and parent support. Bosses for Babies is a statewide initiative of The Movement, designed to engage business leaders in boosting their workforce and contributing to community prosperity through family-focused practices. The director of business engagement is a key relationship-builder and spokesperson who works to elevate the conversation on family-friendly workplaces with key audiences across the state and recruit new business champions (“Bosses”) for the initiative. 

This Florida-based position requires regular travel throughout the state. 
 

Responsibilities

  • Create, manage and execute plan to recruit new business champions for early childhood (Bosses for Babies), drawing from diverse geographies, and industries and organizations of different sizes
  • Participate in regular public speaking engagements before chambers of commerce and other groups across the state
  • Oversee the successful launch of the Guide to Family-Friendly Workplaces in Florida in the first quarter of 2023, including collaboration with outside consultants, and continue to expand the reach and use of the guide
  • Create quarterly engagement opportunities for executives signed up as Bosses for Babies
  • Manage and coordinate regular communication about the Bosses for Babies program via The Movement’s communications channels, including Bosses for Babies LIVE webinars
  • Build meaningful partnerships with early childhood stakeholders, collective impact/community collaboratives, chambers of commerce (some of whom have broader relationships with The Movement)
  • Maintain an active social media presence for the Bosses for Babies initiative and to stay connected with state and national trends on family-friendly policies and practices
  • Track relationships and engagement, keeping records updated in database
  • Share in the team responsibilities for successful virtual events, including outreach for promotion and day-of roles
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications and attributes

The director is expected to be a hardworking self-starter with strong attention to detail and a willingness to work collaboratively. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, creative, and demonstrate grace under pressure. 

Priority skills include: 

  • Meaningful experience working with business leaders, chambers of commerce, small businesses, and corporations
  • Comfort with public speaking and social media, with equal dedication to the details and small things
  • Interest in family-friendly policies and practices and early childhood issues
  • Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple priorities, manage projects, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and politically active environment
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Drive, Zoom, and other virtual platforms
  • Facility with databases (knowledge of EveryAction a plus)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; Spanish a plus
  • Must have access to reliable transportation and be able to transport materials to and from meetings and special events/programs

The position requires in-person attendance for meetings and events statewide, including some evening and weekend obligations.
