Liz Miller is an early learning champion who understands that a healthy Florida is not just about their own members, it’s about making sure all families have access to the resources they need to thrive – including early childhood education, parental support and overcoming socioeconomic challenges that adversely impact health. Sunshine Health partners with more than 400 community organizations throughout the state of Florida, including local Early Learning Coalitions and Healthy Start chapters that make up a crucial part of Florida’s social safety net. Additionally, 87% of Sunshine Health employees are female, as is 62% of its leadership. In turn, the ability to support families is an integral part of internal and external success at Sunshine Health.
Liz Miller serves as CEO of Sunshine Health. She provides overall direction and guidance across plan operations supporting Centene’s Florida products, including Medicaid, Marketplace (Ambetter), Medicare (WellCare and Allwell), and specialty plans, including Serious Mental Illness (SMI), Child Welfare, and the Florida Department of Health’s Children’s Medical Services Health Plan (CMS). She was state president for WellCare’s operations in Florida from October 2016 through the Centene transition in January 2020. In this role, she led the successful Florida Medicaid procurement in 2017 and helped the plan achieve a 4-star quality rating in Medicare.
Previously, she served as WellCare of Florida’s chief operating officer, leading the teams responsible for network management, health services, behavioral health, and organization training. Liz joined WellCare in March 2012 as vice president, product operations, working in Florida and Georgia.
Prior to joining WellCare, Liz held roles with increasing levels of responsibility with Genesis Healthcare and UnitedHealth Group. She has a master’s of business administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and master’s and bachelor’s degrees in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania.
Liz is a registered nurse (RN) and a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) and holds American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) board certification. She is a member of the Florida Council of 100 and is on the Board of Trustees of the Florida Council on Aging.
