Bio

Debra Dhaity is a recent graduate from Florida International University, where she earned a Master's in Public Health with a concentration in Maternal & Child Health. Growing up in South Florida and being a first-generation Haitian American inspired Debra to find her passion in community work and advocacy among mothers and children.

Before joining the Children’s Movement, she worked with several organizations during her time in graduate school. She conducted research with Black Mothers Care Plan at FIU on how Haitian socioecological and structural determinants affect women's seeking of perinatal care. As a Health Effect Fellow at FIU, she taught health education to Miami-Dade schools and also served as a tutor at Huntington Learning Center, supporting students from kindergarten to 12th grade. Debra served as the President of Leaders in Maternal and Child Health and as the coeditor of FIU’s Special Delivery Newsletter, which helped raise awareness of current maternal and child health events at FIU and in Miami.

Debra is honored to be a part of the Children’s Movement of Florida team and is eager to serve as liaison for the community and an advocate for the voices of children and families across the state. In her free time, Debra enjoys working out, reading, solving different puzzles, and binge-watching TV shows and movies.
