Bosses for Babies

How This Boss Makes an Impact for Children in Florida

Kadie Black leads Voices For Children with a clear commitment to supporting both the children they serve and the team that carries out the mission. Under her leadership, the organization has implemented comprehensive family-friendly policies that provide meaningful support for expecting and new parents.

Expecting mothers receive reasonable accommodations—such as flexible scheduling, modified duties, or additional breaks—along with private spaces for rest or milk expression. Maternity leave includes up to 12 weeks of leave, with up to six weeks paid through available benefits, and all parents—birth, adoptive, and foster—may take up to six weeks of leave within the child’s first year. Benefits continue during paid leave, and FMLA protections ensure employees can return to their roles.

Voices For Children also offers hybrid work, flexible schedules, and personalized return-to-work plans to help parents balance family needs with professional responsibilities. Private and sanitary lactation spaces, reasonable break times, and safe milk-storage accommodations further support nursing parents. The organization is exploring a Babies in the Workplace policy, pending board approval, that would allow infants up to six months old in the office under appropriate safety and supervision guidelines.

Kadie’s leadership ensures her team is supported as caregivers and professionals—reflecting the same values of dignity, compassion, and stability that the organization brings to children in foster care.
