Bosses for Babies

How This Boss Makes an Impact for Children in Florida

Laureen Austin has spent her career around pregnant mothers, and she knows that you have to take care of mom to take care of the children. Now, as an entrepreneur, her company is all about empowering new mothers and seeing to their health and wellness. She also seeks to help other mothers in her “community of providers” build their own businesses and, thereby, contributes to the financial stability of working families in the area. As a Boss for Babies, Laureen will also advocate for children and families and volunteer in early learning centers.

Bio

Laureen Austin is founder and president of 4th Trimester Care. She’s a mother, caregiver, and passionate about women’s healthcare, patient advocacy, and children. She has over 20 years of experience in physician practice management. Her career began in the non-profit sector, where she managed family planning clinics and advocated for women’s reproductive rights. She managed private OB/GYN physician practices and provided business consulting for physician practices. Laureen and her husband recently launched 4th Trimester Care, based in the Tampa area, to support postpartum mothers in the so-called “fourth trimester” and beyond. She recognized the gap in healthcare for postpartum support and wanted to be part of the solution to nurture mothers and improve maternal health outcomes for the benefit of the mother, family, and community. For fun, she enjoys exploring nature, the beach, conversations with her two adult children, and laughing with her high-school-sweetheart husband and Co-Founder of 4th Trimester Care.
